Amelia

Written by Magda and Bartek on February 4, 2010 – 8:20 pm -

First official photography post of 2010!! This time we had the pleasure of capturing Amelia and her amazing parents. They welcomed us into their home as though we were long time friends…we love our job.

She is only a few months old and the poor little thing cried throughout the photoshoot so we had to shoot fast! But I don’t blame her…two strangers with weird giant black gadgets clicking away in front of her. ;) But she was really interested a few times and looked directly into the lens which was wicked! Her stunning beautiful eyes pierced through the lens and touched our hearts!

Enough talking! On to the photos…enjoy!

Help for Haiti - Fundraiser

Written by Magda and Bartek on January 21, 2010 – 9:13 pm -

bmk_photography_help_for_haiti_03.jpg

We’re seeing tons of horrible images from the Haiti earthquakes, so I thought I would share an image from photographer Matthew McDermott that touched our hearts and reasurred us that even in the most difficult times…there is hope :)

eyevine-haiti-rescue.jpg

So I was on the train today thinking about Haiti, reading all the sad things in the paper about all those poor people who were hit not once, but twice with an earthquake within 8 days! This struck a little close to home as well since one of our good friends is from Haiti, and unfortunately his uncle was one of the victims. It really sucks because most of the Haitians are already suffering as it is and this is the last thing they need.

I noticed that people all over the world are doing what they can to donate their money to different charities, setting up funds, fundraisers and a whole lot of other amazing things. Magda and I will of course also be donating money… and then I thought, wait…we have an outlet to the world through the internet too! Our Blog! So we thought that we could also try and help.

Since we are going to donate to a charity too and I know there are some of you who also want to donate but perhaps haven’t gotten around to doing so, or only have a small amount they can afford…we came up with a little fundraiser for the readers of our blog! We’re going to pool all the money together and if we at least meet our goal of around $500 (hopefully more!) we’ll randomly choose one participant to get a free photoshoot from us! :)We hope you can participate, so here it goes:

- Send us what you can through the donate (Paypal) button below and we will gather all the money sent to us and donate it to Haiti through the Canadian RedCross.

- There are also charities that will match dollar for dollar what you donate so if a charity is still doing this, we’ll try and send money through them first.

- What’s in it for you? Well, first of all, you’ll feel good about yourselves by helping victims of the earthquake of course! ;) And secondly, we will randomly choose one person, couple or family who donated to the BMK fundraiser and do a free photoshoot for you!

- Please keep in mind that the photoshoot will have to be in Montreal or Ottawa (you Ottawanians can make a fun trip up here to Montreal if you like too!), and it will be between 1-2 hours.

- And of course we will post the amount we collect and which charity we chose on our blog to share with you all!

- If you would like to send us money please click the PayPal button below and send what you can! Don’t worry, you don’t need a paypal account or anything all you need is a credit card to donate and it’s 100% safe!

- We don’t know how much we can raise but let’s give it the best shot. So tell all your friends and family to come to our blog, donate and have a shot at getting a free photoshoot by BMK Photography! Anything will do, $5, $10, $20, $100 etc…

- Click donate button. Pull out wallet. Donate. Get entered into a draw for a free photoshoot with BMK Photography. Give yourself a high five! YAY! :)

Donations received so far! Yippeeeee!!! :

$430.00!!!!

BMK Photography - Help for Haiti fundraiser! Thank you! :)

  2. Rebeca T:   Magda and Bartek, this is a really kind gesture! We do not know what it is to go without! Canada is blessed we haven’t suffered like this, so we have a great opportunity to reach out to those in need! Thank you and I hope you reach your goal! You should post to see where you are at, might inspire others to contribute more if they can :)   (Jan 22, 2010 7:00 am)

  3. George Karaminas:   Congratulations on an excellent initiative Bartek and Magda! Thanks to your prize incentive, now people have two great reasons to donate. Let us all be generous and may God bless those in dire need of our help.   (Jan 21, 2010 11:57 pm)

claudia+simon

Written by Magda and Bartek on November 25, 2009 – 12:36 pm -

Claudia and Simon waited a long time for this day and it finally happened! We met these two quite a while ago at one of the first weddings we shot (Paula and Nemr). We are really blessed to have all these amazing clients all the time! We really feel like we are part of the wedding, instead of just vendors… Thanks to all our amazing brides and grooms! :)

Just two weeks before their big day we did a fabulous engagement photoshoot with Claudia and Simon , if you haven’t seen it check it out here. They showed us how they can rock it out infront of the camera and got us even more excited for their big day!

The day was fantastic. Claudia loves Montreal’s downtown and urban architecture so we started the photosession over at the incredible Windsor Station which was bult in 1887!!! It offers a really grand and classy setting which went perfectly with Claudia and Simon’s style. We then headed over to a few interesting locations around the upper downtown streets and eventually ended up at another historic place in Montreal… This time we added a little bit of greenery to the shoot by visiting the Westmount Conservatory and Greenhouse which houses beautiful plants all year round and of course has stunning architecture as it was built it the 1920’s. ( Looove that era!)

The night ended off at the Embassy Plaza Reception hall in Laval and the decor and party was ah-mazing!! Thank you for the wonderful day, we had a blast capturing your day and you two rocked it out! Oh and we were treated by having our good friend and talented photographer Jesse Bachmann be a third shooter during the day which made the day even more awesome.

Here are our favourites from the day:

It’s funny because in practically every wedding we do, the guys are done getting ready way ahead of time and have some time to relax :)

After the boys were done their thing, we had a bit of time to take a few shots in the parking lot:
